History

The Ringberg house of Suhl was built in 1977 as a recreation home of the association of the cooperative peasants help (VdGB) of the former DDR. A stay was only possible with a voucher of the association.

After the events of 1989 - the Mauerfall in Berlin - and the closing of the VdGB, the Ringberg house became a hotel, open for everybody and preferably booked by groups of south Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Belgium. Associations and small companies came for meetings and conferences at a fair price.
In the meantime the hotel was completely refurbished and renovated and is administrated now by the RHB Ringberg Hotels Association mbH.

Until today the name recognition of the hotel and the average occupancy could be increased clearly.
The opening of the indoor swimming pool with wellness area did a lot to increase the attractivity of the hotel and to keep competitive. In the year 1998/99 we have counted 152.167 roomnights and 59.126 rooms sold, which is an average occupancy of 55,9%.

That all could be realized by intensive cooperation with the famous travel operators and also smaller agencies in combination with a perfect configuration of offer and rates.

The positioning as a family friendly hotel had have also a serious signification to increase the occupancy of the hotel. The conference area of the hotel with a capacity of 500 persons is now regularly used by smaller and bigger national and also international companies. We are quite proud to have already such a long list of regular guest.
